Dolly’s Creamy Coleslaw
A classic homemade creamy coleslaw made with crisp green cabbage, shredded carrots, sweet onion, and a tangy-sweet mayonnaise dressing. Perfect for barbecues, potlucks, and family dinners.
- For the coleslaw:

- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Finely shred the cabbage, shred the carrot, and finely chop the sweet onion. Place the vegetables in a large mixing bowl.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
Pour the dressing over the vegetables and toss until evenly coated.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
Stir well before serving and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve chilled.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Add a little extra lemon juice for a brighter flavor.
Adjust sugar and salt to taste.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days.
Freezing is not recommended because the vegetables and mayonnaise dressing may change texture.
