Homemade Cough Syrup Recipe with Bourbon

This old-fashioned homemade cough syrup recipe with bourbon, peppermint, lemon, and honey is soothing, simple, and just for adults!

Ingredients
  

  • - 20–25 hard peppermint candies crushed (half of a quart jar)
  • - 4 lemon slices
  • - ⅓ cup honey
  • - Kentucky bourbon to fill jar

Instructions
 

  • Crush peppermint candies and place in a quart jar.
  • Add lemon slices and drizzle honey on top.
  • Fill with bourbon to cover ingredients.
  • Stir gently, seal, and store in a cool, dark cupboard for at least 6 weeks.
  • Shake gently every few days.
  • Strain (optional) and take 1–2 teaspoons as needed (adults only).

Notes

- Use local honey for extra soothing power.
- For extra flavor, add a cinnamon stick or fresh ginger.
- Not for children.
