Polish Kompot – Traditional Summer Fruit Drink

Ingredients
  

  • 4 –5 cups fresh or frozen mixed fruit
  • 8 cups water
  • ½ –1 cup sugar
  • 2 –3 whole cloves optional
  • ½ cinnamon stick optional
  • ½ lemon or lemon juice optional

Instructions
 

  • Add fruit to a large pot.
  • Pour in water and sugar.
  • Bring to a gentle boil.
  • Add spices if using.
  • Reduce heat and simmer 15–25 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity.
  • Cool completely.
  • Serve chilled or warm with fruit included.

Notes
Use dark fruit for deep red color.
Apple + cinnamon makes a great fall version.
Freeze leftovers up to 3 months.
