- 2 tablespoons of margarine or 2 tablespoons of raw butter
- One teaspoon of spice
- 1 egg, softly whisked
- 1 drop of water
- 1 teaspoon sugar or 1 teaspoon Splenda candy sugar
- Apple juice (1/4 teaspoon) in case they start to turn brown
For the meat sauce:
- 1/2 cup ready-made caramel ice cream topping
- 1/3 cup chopped toasted nut halves
- Cool Whip is not required.
How to do it:
- Warm the oven up to 400°F.
- Let puff dough thaw and unfold it.
- Roll the dough into a 16-inch square on a lightly floured surface.
- Use a knife to cut it into 4 equal pieces.
- Peel and cut up the apples.
- Cut the apple bottoms off so they lie flat.
- In the middle of each square, put one apple.
- If the apples start to turn brown, add 1/4 teaspoon of lemon juice.
- Melt the butter or margarine and add the cinnamon. Then add the brown sugar or brown-sugar splenda. Put it in apples.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and water together.
- Use the mixture to wet the edge of the pastry.
- Gather the dough around the apple and shape it as needed to make a seal.
- Put the dumplings in a 9×13-inch baking dish that hasn’t been oiled.
- Use the rest of the egg mixture to brush them, and then sprinkle them with sugar or splenda.
- Just put it in the oven and wait 35 minutes.
- When you’re ready to serve, warm up the nuts and the caramel sauce.
- Spread the sauce over a warm dumpling that has been put on a serving plate.
- If you want, you can add cool whip or vanilla ice cream as a garnish.
