Biscuit Bread (Pone Bread)

A quick, three-ingredient Southern skillet bread with crispy crust and tender interior.

Ingredients
  

  • - 2 cups self-rising flour
  • - 1 cup buttermilk
  • - 1 tsp bacon grease

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 450°F with greased cast iron skillet.
  • Mix flour and buttermilk until just combined.
  • Pour into hot skillet; bake 15–17 min until golden.
  • Cool 5 min; slice and serve.

Notes

- Substitute yogurt for buttermilk.
- Add herbs or sugar for variation.
