Classic High School Goulash
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef/used 85%
- 1 small onion diced
- 1 tsp minced garlic/used jarred kind
- 1 15 ounce can crushed tomatoes
- 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 green pepper cut in small pieces
- 1 large fresh tomato peeled and cut in small pieces
- 1 and 1/2 cups elbow macaroni cooked (measured before cooking) don’t overcook noodles/drain noodles
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- Brown beef in a large deep fry pan with onions, garlic, and green pepper.
- Turn off the heat and toss in the chopped fresh tomato.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce.
- Season with sugar, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper
- Add cooked noodles.
- Turn heat back on, stir gently but well.
- Cover pan
- Reduce heat and and simmer for 10 minutes.
- If desired sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese when serving.
