Homemade Tomato Dumplings: A Cherished Family Recipe
Tomato Dumplings: A Family Tradition
My mama always made tomato dumplings, and we loved them! No one else we know has ever made them or heard of them. We lost my mama in September, and I decided to make some during the cold, snowy evening last night for my family and my brother’s family. My brother said that mama was here with us.
Recipe
Sauce:
- 2 large cans of whole tomatoes
- Salt
- Little bit of butter
- Pinch of sugar
- Water to thin if needed
Dumplings:
- 2 cans of biscuits
- Flour to roll out biscuits
Instructions:
- Crush the whole tomatoes between your hands, add salt and butter to taste (I use about 2 TBSP of butter) and a pinch of salt in a pot and bring to a boil.
- Roll out your biscuits and slice into rough squares. Drop them individually into the boiling sauce. They will rise when done.
- Enjoy!
