This is pear salad. A southern staple.
When I get a craving for something my Mama and Grandmama used to make, I can’t wait to taste it again. Did anyone else grow up eating fruit salads made with canned Bartlett pears or a ring of canned pineapple? We thought we were eating”fancy” when we ate pear salad.
Ingredients:
- Tinned pineapple rings or Bartlett pears
- Duke’s mayo (suggested)
- Juice from the canned fruit
- Shredded cheese
- Maraschino cherries

- For the dressing, whisk mayo and a tiny bit of the canned fruit juice in a small bowl.
