Tomato Gravy with Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits

Tomato Gravy:

  • Use bacon grease.
  • Make your starter with salt and pepper.
  • Add one or two cans of diced tomatoes.
  • Add equal parts water per can or you can use milk.
  • Stir until thickened.
  • You can also use canned tomatoes and fresh together, but if you use fresh ones you will get a much sweeter taste than the canned.

Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits

The key is to use real unsalted butter, cold, and cut them thick.

Buttermilk Biscuits

My Biscuits recipe 

  • Use two cups flour or two and a half (I used self-rising).
  • Use six tablespoons of cold real butter, unsalted. If you use more flour, use more butter (like eight tablespoons).
  • Add buttermilk, about a cup, but watch how the batter looks.
  • Put the dough out and cut your rounds thick. The thicker they are, the taller they will be.
  • By far, I pick this over any gravy.
