Hillbilly Spaghetti Pie recipe

Hillbilly Spaghetti Pie… dinner last night. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to cook for 1. My mom taught me to cook for 4 and I’m still doing it

1/2 – cup onion, chopped
2 – tablespoons olive oil
1/2 – pound ground beef
1/2 – pound sweet Italian sausage
(3- 4 links with casings removed)
2-garlic cloves, minced
1 – (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1/4 – teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 – tsp Italian seasoning
1 – tablespoon sugar
1 – teaspoon salt (or to taste)
2 – cups water
8 – ounces thin spaghetti, broken into 3 inch pieces (not angel hair)
1/4 – cup heavy whipping cream
1 – teaspoon dried basil
1/2 – cup fresh grated Parmesan cheese
2 – cups grated mozzarella cheese
large cast iron skillet or 9 x 13 in baking dish

Hillbilly Spaghetti Pie

  • First, cook the onion for 5 minutes over medium-low heat in 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  • over medium-high heat, cook the beef and sausage.
  • Put in the garlic, Italian spice, and oregano when the meat is almost cooked through.
  • Before proceeding with the recipe, I removed the grease from the minced beef and sausage.
  • Stir in the water, sugar, and salt after the meat has cooked. Include spaghetti that has been fractured.
  • Put the linguine into the liquid and cover it for eight minutes.
  • Stir the pasta after 8 minutes to prevent the strands from adhering to one another.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to simmer for an additional six minutes until the pasta is tender (almost cooked but still slightly firm).
  • Stir in cream, Parmesan cheese, and oregano.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top and place in the oven to broil until it is a light golden brown.
