Tomato Gravy with Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits
Tomato Gravy:
- Use bacon grease.
- Make your starter with salt and pepper.
- Add one or two cans of diced tomatoes.
- Add equal parts water per can or you can use milk.
- Stir until thickened.
- You can also use canned tomatoes and fresh together, but if you use fresh ones you will get a much sweeter taste than the canned.
Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits
The key is to use real unsalted butter, cold, and cut them thick.
My Biscuits recipeĀ
- Use two cups flour or two and a half (I used self-rising).
- Use six tablespoons of cold real butter, unsalted. If you use more flour, use more butter (like eight tablespoons).
- Add buttermilk, about a cup, but watch how the batter looks.
- Put the dough out and cut your rounds thick. The thicker they are, the taller they will be.
- By far, I pick this over any gravy.
