Peach Cobbler in Cast Iron Skillet

Peach Cobbler in Cast Iron Skillet

I don’t have a ‘REAL’ recipe. My Mom always made this & I learned from her. I have been making this for about 40 yrs. and it is sooo good! Hope you like it as well as I do! Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 4 cans (15.25 oz each) peaches in heavy syrup (juice too)
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • Optional: Cinnamon and sugar for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a hot oven, melt 1 stick of butter (in skillet).
  3. Add 4 cans of peaches (in heavy syrup, juice too) to melted butter in skillet.
  4. In a bowl, mix 1 cup self-rising flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk. Stir til batter is smooth.
  5. Pour batter all over the top of peaches. Do not stir. The crust rises to the top as the cobbler bakes.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes.
  7. Sometimes I sprinkle a little cinnamon & sugar on top of the cobbler when I take it out of the oven. This one I did not.
  8. This Peach Cobbler was made in a #12 Cast Iron Skillet.
